Our Campus

Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (MSU-CHM) was among the first community-based medical schools with a curriculum that emphasized a patient-centered philosophy. Integrating medical students into small communities allows for significant patient contact and provides comprehensive training in clinical settings that most closely parallel the environment in which many physicians practice.

MSU-CHM students serve required and elective clerkships, under the close supervision of experienced physicians throughout MyMichigan Health.

Our top-ranked hospitals offer a broad scope of services and large geographic reach providing a unique combination of opportunities:

  • Access to advanced technology and physician expertise rivaling that found in larger academic medical centers
  • One-on-one access to patients provides significantly more meaningful and engaging clinical experiences and learning opportunities
  • Opportunities to experience unique challenges and strategies for practicing medicine in a diverse community patient population
  • Opportunity to complete the Rural Community Health Certificate Program (R-CHP)
  • A long history of successful collaboration between MyMichigan Health and MSU at one of the nation’s first Family Medicine Residency programs

The Family Medicine Residency program at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland is a four-year unopposed program affiliated with MSU, approved for training in allopathic medicine.

In addition, in collaboration with MSU-CHM, MyMichigan Medical Center Alma opened their doors in 2015 to an unopposed three-year program approved for training in allopathic medicine. The MSU/MyMichigan Medical Center Alma Family Medicine Residency Program, is focused on rural, community-based hospital and clinical practice.

At MyMichigan Health, our patients are the focus of everything we do. Our Mission is to provide excellent health services to improve the quality of life for people in our communities. Our Vision is to be an integrated health system providing seamless care to each person we serve. We hold these values to be fundamental: Excellence, Integrity, Teamwork and Accountability.
