Tena Baar

Photo of Tena Baar - MSU Medical Student.Tena is from Byron Center, Michigan. She attended Hope College where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Prior to medical school, her favorite experience was working as a resident caregiver at an assisted living. She currently enjoys being a hospice volunteer and is involved in research regarding telemedicine and geriatrics. Tena is interested in internal medicine, but does not yet know what she wants to be when she grows up. In her free time, she loves gardening, long walks (preferably on a beach), spending time with family and friends, and playing piano.

Kelsey Bean

Photo of Kelsey Bean - MSU Medical Student.Kelsey (she/her) is from Quincy, MI. She received her degree in Biomedical Engineering with a  minor in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. After graduation, she taught high school science in Washington, D.C., as a member of Teach for America. Kelsey’s drive to provide quality, equitable healthcare to underserved communities brought her back to Michigan to pursue a career in rural medicine. She hopes to promote health equity and provide inclusive care in rural Michigan as a family medicine physician. Kelsey has the pleasure of enjoying Michigan life with her husband, two cats, and a retired class pet turtle. Outside of medicine, you can catch Kelsey completing DIY house projects, singing showtunes, and enjoying the Michigan outdoors.

Perry Bruder

Photo of Perry Bruder - MSU Medical Student.Perry is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory  University in 2015. Prior to medical school, he participated in research related to  vascularization during skeletal development at the University of Michigan and University of Pennsylvania as well as working as an emergency department scribe. Perry is currently interested in Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease or Cardiology, but his interests are always changing and he's excited to see what every area of medicine has to offer. Outside of medical school, he enjoys movies, traveling and spending time outdoors.

Anosh Kermani 

Photo of Anosh Kermani - MSU Medical Student.Anosh Kermani was born in Mumbai, India and raised in Los Banos, California. He graduated from UCLA with a BS in Neuroscience. His personal experience in an underserved community gave him a passion to provide better care and compassion to those in need. He is fueled by the opportunity to engage in charitable endeavors and will advocate however he can. Anosh also has a passion for playing golf, guitars, and football.

Eneka Lamb

Photo of Eneka Lamb - MSU Medical Student.Eneka Lamb is originally from Hong Kong. Through the past decade, she’s paved a path towards a career in medicine as a physician committed to serving marginalized and vulnerable communities. As an undergraduate student at Duke University, she designed a major called Global Perspectives of Maternal and Child Health, where she took a biopsychosocial approach to exploring health aspects of women and children internationally. After earning a BS degree, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for 3.5 years in Guyana, where she worked with community members, primarily around topics related to women's health, contraceptive methods, adolescent pregnancy, cervical cancer, stigmas, and indigenous rights, as well as labor and delivery. Upon returning to the United States in 2018, she completed a MS degree in Physiology from Georgetown University. Vulnerable populations, stigmas and reproductive health continue to be among her main interests, fueling her research and extracurricular activities. She is currently the NRHA Student Constituency Group Policy Liaison and was recently elected to the NRHA Rural Health Congress. Additionally, she is an Executive Board member of Grand Rapid Street Medicine, Physicians for Social Awareness and MSU CHM Scrubs Addressing the Firearm Epidemic.

Elizabeth Martin

Photo of Elizabeth Martin - MSU Medical Student.Elizabeth is from Rogers City, MI, a small, rural town in northeast Michigan. She graduated from Alpena Community College with an associate's degree in Biology before continuing on to Grand Valley State University to obtain her bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences. While in undergrad, she worked as an emergency room medical scribe and during her gap year, she worked as a genetics lab technician. She has volunteered with the Children's Healing Center and the YWCA of Grand Rapids. Currently, Elizabeth's specialty interests include general surgery and obstetrics and gynecology, but her interests continue to evolve every day. The one thing that has never changed is her passion for rural medicine and desire to return to an underserved area to practice one day. Elizabeth's favorite hobbies include running, playing piano, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Nicholas Raggio

Photo of Nick Raggio - MSU Medical Student.Nick is from Sterling Heights, Michigan. He attended Michigan State University where he earned a Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience. He worked as a CNA, medical scribe, and medical assistant before attending medical school. While at CHM, he has enjoyed his time volunteering at the local church to provide care to the local community. When he is not studying hard, Nick loves to hike, play golf, and hit the slopes for some skiing!

Kaleb Ramon

Photo of Kaleb Ramon - MSU Medical Student.Kaleb is from Shepherd, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Alma College. During his undergraduate years he spent time as a research lab assistant, a medical scribe in a local emergency department, and as a CNA. Kaleb is most interested in pursuing a career in emergency medicine, but is still very eager and open to learn about all other specialties out there. In his free time he enjoys playing ice hockey, spending time with friends and family, and being outdoors.

Shourya Verma

Photo of Shourya Verma - MSU Medical Student.Shourya is from Troy, Michigan. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan while also pursuing medicine. He is passionate about helping others and is excited to work with the rural community. In his free time, he enjoys playing and teaching tennis, exercising, playing with his dog, and spending time with his family. As a result of his background in business, he has developed an interest in delving into the finances of medicine in hopes of pursuing greater and more equitable care for patients.
