Drawing the winning tickets were (left to right) Tammy Story, executive assistant, MyMichigan Medical Center Alma; Mackenzy Jensen, 4-H student and animal owner, and Trisha Grover, quality and patient safety specialist, MyMichigan Medical Center Alma.

Under the auspices of the MyMichigan Health Foundation, employees at MyMichigan Medical Center Alma have successfully hosted the first-ever Swine Dining Pig Ticket Raffle, directly supporting the Gratiot County Fair for Youth and the MyMichigan Medical Center Alma, Mt. Pleasant and Clare Outdoor Free Food Pantries. The initiative brought together community members for a cause that supports local youth programs and addresses food insecurity across the medical center campuses.

The raffle, which drew winning tickets on August 28, 2024, supports the health system’s Purpose in ‘Creating Healthy Communities - Together.’ Participants had a chance to win half a pig, with processing included, for only $10 per ticket, making a significant impact on the community.

Mackenzy Jensen, a local 4-H participant and owner of the animal, expressed her gratitude for the support: “Being a part of 4-H has given me many opportunities to grow and learn. Seeing organizations like MyMichigan Medical Center Alma support us is wonderful. It’s more than buying my animal; it’s helping me in my future.”

Trisha Grover and Tammy Story, MyMichigan Medical Center Alma employees who spearheaded the event, could hardly contain their enthusiasm. “The outpouring of staff and community support has been astounding. It's a testament to the power of coming together for a common good,” said Grover. “Knowing each ticket bought will help not only the 4-H programs but also fill our food pantries is a win on all sides,” added Story.

Becky Church, director, MyMichigan Health Foundation, highlighted the impact of such fundraisers. “Every effort, every donation, no matter the size, contributes to a healthier community. The generosity shown through this raffle is a quintessential example of our Purpose in action – ‘Creating Healthy Communities - Together.’”

Due to the tremendous support and sold-out tickets, Jessica Young and Casey Kuhn were announced as the lucky beneficiaries, each receiving half of a processed pig.

MyMichigan Health Foundation extends its gratitude to the participants and organizers, focusing on the important contributions that connect and enrich the community. “As we celebrate the success of the Swine Dining Pig Ticket Raffle, we look forward to its continued inspiration and contribution to the annual Gratiot County Fair for Youth,” concluded Church.
