Hospice is a program for terminally ill individuals and their families. Hospice provides clinical management of symptoms and pain, enabling you or your loved ones to live as fully and comfortably as possible while remaining in the familiar surroundings of home. It affirms life and regards dying as a normal process, one of life’s greatest challenges.
Hospice utilizes a team approach to provide care and support to patients and their families both before and after death.
Our Hospice staff members provide care in patients' residences, whether they live at home, at a friend or family member's home, nursing facility, an assisted living center or a foster care home. In addition, MyMichigan Hospice offers the Woodland Hospice House, located in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. The Woodland Hospice House is a beautiful eight-suite facility that focuses on privacy, comfort, and individualized care to honor your and your family wishes.
Admission Information
Hospice services are appropriate for patients with life-limiting conditions once curative treatment is no longer being pursued. MyMichigan Hospice invites patients and families to inquire about whether hospice services are appropriate. If the family wishes, our licensed staff will go to the patient’s home to provide education about services and discuss criteria for admission. If the patient chooses to accept hospice, his or her physician will be contacted to approve the request.
Services
Hospice services are provided by a team of professionals, trained volunteers and specialists. Each patient’s care plan is individually tailored to meet their needs and the needs of the family. Services focus on physical, emotional and spiritual care.
Payment
Hospice services are billed to the patient’s insurance if there is coverage. Patients without insurance coverage may qualify for use of hospice memorial funds.
MyMichigan Hospice is authorized to provide services under the Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross insurance programs to eligible patients. We are also a preferred provider for a number of other insurance companies and health maintenance organizations.
