Biography

Thomas G. Saba, M.D., is an assistant professor of Clinic Pediatrics and the Director of the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) Center at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. In addition to seeing patients in Ann Arbor, Dr. Saba offers a Pediatric Pulmonology Clinic at MyMichigan Medical Center Mt. Pleasant.

Philosophy of Care

“The lung is a very complex organ with huge potential for research and discovery,” said Dr. Saba. “I enjoy the management of pulmonary issues in the hospital, as well as, forming a long lasting relationship with families in the outpatient setting.”

Dr. Saba wants his patients to trust him. “Like a parent, I might not have all the answers, but I am fully committed to finding the right answers and give the patient my absolute best.”

“I feel most satisfied when I feel as though I have met the expectations of my patients and families,” adds Dr. Saba. “I take the time to help the family understand how the body works, explaining the disease process and finding a treatment plan that works.”

Special Interests and Procedures

As a pediatric pulmonologist, Dr. Saba specializes in asthma, bronchiectasis, and primary ciliary dyskinesia. He has extensive experience with common as well as rare pulmonary conditions with procedural skills, including bronchoscopy, to pursue advanced diagnostic testing when a diagnosis is unclear.

Dr. Saba looks forward to the advancements in the pulmonary field, one example is the use of biologic antibodies which are now used to treat certain forms of severe asthma.

Dr. Saba is a huge hockey fan and loves being outdoors. In fact, he bikes to work every day to capture as much of it as possible.
