Biography

Yetunde Balogun, M.D., is a vascular surgeon with MyMichigan Health and is a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, structural heart specialists, as well as vascular and cardiovascular surgeons.

As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Balogun is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the circulatory system, including the arteries and veins. “I was attracted to the field of vascular surgery because the patient population is very diverse,” she said. “I also enjoy the technical aspect of vascular surgery.”

Philosophy of Care

“My philosophy of care is simple – do your best every time for each person,” said Dr. Balogun. “I work hard to develop relationships with my patients based on open communications and trust. I love getting to know them and feel that this is an essential part of providing quality care.”

According to Dr. Balogun, the most satisfying aspect of her work is having the opportunity to save lives and limbs. “Each of my patient’s health is my priority, and I make sure every patient receives the best possible care,” she added.

Special Interests and Procedures

Dr. Balogun treats all disorders of the circulatory system, but has a special interest in aneurysm repair and carotid surgery. “The most exciting innovation in the field of vascular surgery has been the progression toward endovascular procedures which are much less invasive and use small incisions instead of large ones to fix big vessels,” she added.

In her free time, Dr. Balogun loves dancing and jogging. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband Godwin and their son Andrew
