Biography
Alec Kurjian, M.D., specializes in family medicine. He sees patients at MyMichigan Health Park Freeland.
Philosophy of Care
“When I initially started out in medical school, I thought I would become a pediatrician. Over the course of my training, I realized that treating adults was something I loved as well. Family Medicine became the natural choice.”
“I feel doctors have an obligation to practice evidence based medicine whenever possible. While this is a critical component in care, developing rapport with my patients is the most important of all.”
“I want my patients to feel they can approach me with questions and concerns. Most people feel like they do not really get to know their doctor, I do not want that for my patients.”
“I am patient and I understand that people have concerns about their health problems. I want to do everything I can to help alleviate those concerns. Most of the time I find that just listening and letting people speak can help.”
“It’s important to me that patients have an excellent experience in regards to how they are treated. I want to make sure people not only receive the best care but leave my office feeling appreciated.”
“The people are the most satisfying thing about my job. My staff, coworkers, and patients are what make the medical field special. I also feel the electronic medical record has changed medicine for the better. Doctors can access charts from anywhere and can be more available and prepared.”
During his free time, Dr. Kurjian enjoys playing basketball, hiking the U.S. national parks and biking.
