Biography
Stephanie Neubecker, M.S.N., F.N.P.-B.C., is a board-certified family nurse practitioner at MyMichigan Surgical Oncology and sees patients at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland with James Fenton, M.D. and Kari Malinowski, P.A.-C.
Philosophy of Care
Stephanie has worked with thoracic patients throughout her entire career, first caring for inpatients following surgery and then as a nurse in the office. Her philosophy of care is prioritizing the well-being and preferences of her patients. “I want my patients to feel they can come to me with their concerns and know that they are in good hands,” she said. “I offer my patients a unique outlook on patient care as I’ve been involved in the outpatient setting as well as caring for thoracic patients in the inpatient setting. Seeing first-hand how thoracic surgery can change a patient’s life, from facing lung cancer to helping relieve symptoms of acid reflux, is what attracted me to this specialty.”
Supporting patients who have been diagnosed with cancer is one of the most rewarding aspects of her work. “A cancer diagnosis is life changing and I will be with my patients every step through the diagnosis and treatment,” said Stephanie.
Special Interests and Procedures
The thoracic surgery team provides advanced and minimally invasive robotic surgical management for a wide spectrum of thoracic conditions including diseases of the lung, diaphragm, esophagus and the chest wall.
“One of the most exciting developments over the years is the use of low-dose CT scans for lung cancer screening,” said Stephanie. “It allows us to screen and diagnose lung cancer at an earlier stage when it is most treatable, much the way we do for breast and colon cancers.”
In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys camping with her family, kayaking, spending time with her dogs and attending her husband’s and son’s sporting events.
