Biography
John Blamoun, M.D., is a pulmonologist and critical care specialist. Dr. Blamoun sees hospital patients at the Medical Center in Midland and sees outpatients at his practice in the Towsley Building. He is board certified in Critical Care Medicine, Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease.
“I have always had a passion for medicine,” Dr. Blamoun said. “There is no better way to help people. I was drawn to critical care medicine in particular because that is when people are the most ill and most in need of help.”
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Blamoun treats his patients and their families with compassion and empathy. “We cannot always heal the patient, but we can strive to make things as comfortable as possible for everyone. I often share my own personal experiences with patients and families; I can relate to them and try to help them as they go through their own difficult experience,” he said.
“I truly care about my patients and always treat them as I would treat a member of my family. They will always get my honest opinion and the best possible care,” Dr. Blamoun said. “In critical care medicine, we see patients who are very sick, vulnerable and in need of the most help. It is always gratifying when I see these people turn around and start feeling better.”
Special Interests and Procedures
Dr. Blamoun has a special interest in ultrasound technology and, on a national level, teaches other health care professionals how to maximize its use. “Ultrasound has made vital contributions to critical care medicine,” he said. “With ultrasound equipment, we can make better diagnoses and help people recover in the safest way possible,” he said.
Dr. Blamoun enjoys teaching and is an adjunct faculty member at the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions at Central Michigan University, where he teaches critical care medicine.
Dr. Blamoun and his wife live in Midland with their two young children. “It is a wonderful community,” he said. “People are very friendly and we know it will be a good place to raise our family.”
