Biography
Melissa Weckesser, M.D., specializes in family medicine. She sees patients of all ages at MidMichigan Health Park - Gladwin.
Philosophy of Care
“My philosophy of care is based on a strong doctor-patient relationship,” said Dr. Weckesser. “I want to develop mutual respect and understanding with my patients. That relationship allows me to give individualized care with shared decision making with my patients. I also want to be able to educate patients on their disease processes and have a team-based approach to their health.”
“I enjoy treating a wide variety of patients, and especially when I have the opportunity to treat the entire family, which can start from pregnancy and include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.”
“Being able to provide care for a patient from a very young age until they are older gives me satisfaction in my work. I also like seeing the changes that my patients make when it comes to bettering their health.”
“I strive every day to provide the best care for my patients, which includes staying up to date in my field. There are many exciting recent developments that can help us provide even better care for our patients, including for instance, targeted breast cancer therapies, hybrid closed-loop insulin delivery and the change in the vaccine infrastructure that is currently happening.”
“Spending time with my new family, including my husband, Brian, and our very active young child is really important to me. I also enjoy traveling and experiencing new places and cultures.”
