Board-certified family nurse practitioner, Kurt Boyd, is a family medicine provider. He provides preventive care, treatment of acute illness and coordinates on-going care for patients with chronic medical conditions. Kurt welcomes pediatric, teen and adult patients to his practice in Clare.
Patients can trust the range of experience that Kurt brings to his practice. He has provided Clare County residents with emergency medical care for more than 15 years. His career started in 1996 as an emergency medical technician-paramedic and continued for 10 years in the emergency room at MyMichigan Medical Center Clare. In addition to a master of science from Saginaw Valley State University, Kurt also holds a nursing degree from Delta College and bachelor of science from Central Michigan University.
Philosophy of Care
Kurt believes that family medicine is about working with patients to achieve and maintain their health goals. The cornerstone of his philosophy is focused upon exercise, healthy choices and preventive efforts. “Good health doesn’t come from a prescription and a trip to the pharmacy,” Kurt explained. “It comes from working with your health care provider and making a personal commitment to lifestyle changes that promote well-being.”
Listening to patients is the key to providing safe, quality care, he added. “I value what the patient and family have to say. Patients can expect that I will be available, listen to their concerns and work with them in designing a patient-centered plan of care.” His personal sense of obligation to patients extends beyond the traditional workday. “I don’t stop thinking about my patients when office hours are over, and I respect the responsibility that comes with being a family medicine provider,” Kurt said.
Kurt, his wife Nicole, and their three children live in Clare. “We are happy to raise our children in a community with traditional small-town values,” Kurt said. “We look forward to being here for many years to come.”
