MyKitchen Teaching Series

Learn Practical Ways to Improve Your Overall Heart Health

Photo of healthy foods and spices.A person’s diet has been found to be a contributing, modifiable risk factor for heart disease. This free educational series is aimed at helping people learn the importance of healthy eating to improve their overall heart health. Each 90-minute class was developed by a registered dietitian nutritionist and includes both an educational component, as well as a cooking demonstration which applies the concepts presented during class.

Whole Food, Plant-Based Diets

You may have heard the term “whole food, plant based,” but what exactly does that mean?

Class participants will learn what whole food, plant based is and why it's important for overall health.

You will learn:

  • What foods are recommended as part of a whole food plant-based diet
  • The health benefits of plant-based proteins
  • Common misconceptions about whole food, plant-based diets
  • The importance of fiber, increasing vegetable intake and consuming whole grains.

This class will conclude with a cooking demonstration of three recipes that demonstrate how to incorporate a whole food, plant-based eating pattern into your life.
