Skilled Nursing and Therapy Services from MyMichigan

Home Nursing Care and Services

MyMichigan Home Care provides intermittent skilled nursing services in the home. Nursing services are ordered for education, assessments, and/or complex nursing care. Ways in which we can provide assistance:

  • Education - Management of new diagnosis or exacerbation of a chronic illness, medication management, required safety precautions, patient treatments orders, etc.
  • Clinical assessments - Monitor clinical response to medications or treatment changes or fluctuating clinical status, etc.
  • Complex nursing care - Complex wounds, new ostomy or trach care, suprapubic replacement and/or irrigations, etc.

We provide nursing care for a variety of medical conditions including:

  • Intravenous therapy – includes administering medications, managing venous access devices and drawing samples for laboratory tests
  • Oncology nursing – includes chemotherapy, symptom management, nutritional assessment, immunosuppression or bleeding precautions, and monitoring response to post chemotherapy or radiation procedures 
  • Cardiac recovery – includes testing and monitoring, exercise supervision, education, registered dietitian services, and preparation for outpatient cardiac recovery program
  • Respiratory recovery - includes education and assessments following new or exacerbation of respiratory conditions. Conditions we help with include pneumonia, asthma, bronchitis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), or Covid-19. We can also provide patient or caregiver education on energy conservation, nutrition requirements, oxygen precautions, correct nebulizer and inhaler administration, and prevention of spreading or contracting respiratory illnesses. 
  • Wound Care – includes post operative assessment and care, pressure ulcer assessment and teaching, and complex care requiring licensed nurse to perform (sterile irrigation or medications into wound, sterile packing, etc.)
  • Ostomy Care - includes follow-up post operative care for intestinal or bladder surgery with new ostomy, new ostomy complications, etc.  
  • Pediatric Care – includes education about caring for newborns and follow-up treatments such as phototherapy for infants with jaundice

Palliative Care

MyMichigan’s Palliative Care program offers a home- and clinic-based program to help you cope with the symptoms of life limiting illness such as cancer. Our goal is to improve your quality of life, reduce hospitalizations, and help coordinate with other health care partners such as home care, hospice, rehabilitation, and alternative medicines. The program is designed to treat the whole person at any time during the disease process.

Rehabilitation Services

MyMichigan Home Care also offers several in-home rehabilitation services including physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. Learn more about therapy services.

Payment Options

There are different ways to pay for nursing care services.

  • MyMichigan Home Care can bill Medicare, Blue Cross and many other types of insurance. Check your plan to determine coverage.
  • Assistance sometimes is available through charitable funds for expenses not reimbursable through insurance.
