Wait at Home for Urgent Care
How does it work?
Wait at Home enables you to choose an approximate time to arrive at Urgent Care and then saves your place in line. The estimate takes into account the current wait time in the Urgent Care, enabling you to wait in a more comfortable location with less exposure to others rather than in the waiting room. This service currently is available at MyMichigan Urgent Care in Clare, however, we may expand it to other locations if it is well received.
Please note, this is not a guaranteed appointment time, but rather an estimated time of arrival. We make every effort to see patients as close as possible to their assigned arrival time. However, since the duration of visits varies by complexity, it is not possible to predict precisely when a previous visit will conclude and yours will begin, even though we have saved your place in line. Rest assured that when your turn comes, we will offer you the same thorough examination and personalized care as the patients before you.
Do NOT Wait at Home if you are having a life threatening emergency, such as heart attack, stroke, major trauma, head injuries, or severe bleeding. For severe emergencies, immediately dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
If you change your mind after using Wait at Home (for example, if you are feeling better or decide to go someplace else) kindly let us know by logging into your MyChart account to cancel the visit or by calling the Urgent Care.
What if I arrive late?
If you arrive after your estimated time of arrival, you will lose your guaranteed place in line, however you may still be seen as a walk-in by registering at Urgent Care during normal business hours.
How Do I Know Who’s Next?
Once you arrive at Urgent Care, you’ll see a tracking board showing the current queue of anticipated patients, with Wait at Home Urgent Care visits in yellow, Occupational Health visits in blue and walk-in visits in green. For your privacy, we use the first letter of the last name and the first two letters of the first name. For example, John Smith would show as S, Jo.
Wait at Home Urgent Care and Occupational Health visits are assigned an estimated time of arrival. Those patients do most of their waiting outside the clinic, so the number of people on the tracking board may not match the number of people you see in the waiting room.
Do I have to use Wait at Home before visiting Urgent Care?
No, you can still walk into Urgent Care without a reservation and be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The Urgent Care Wait Time displayed on our website is a real-time estimate (updated every 5 minutes) of how long the next walk-in patient is likely to wait between registration and seeing a provider, based on the current queue of patients. It does not encompass the entire visit, but only the time spent waiting for the visit to begin. Once you register, you can choose to remain in the waiting room or — if your expected wait is long — you may request an estimated time of arrival so that you may leave and return to Urgent Care at or before your estimated time.
