Spine and Pain Program

Our Unique Approach to Pain Management

Nearly 50 million Americans are affected by pain. Chronic pain varies in intensity and frequency and can have exhausting physical and emotional effects that often interfere with everyday life. MyMichigan Health’s Spine and Pain Program provides a balanced approach to pain treatment that focuses on restoring patients to the functions of their daily lives. Our specialty-trained, board certified providers create tailored care plans for each patient that incorporate a variety of modalities, including physical therapy, minimally invasive interventional procedures and medication management when appropriate. Our goal is to provide patients with safe, evidence-based, minimally-invasive pain relief solutions to allow them greater autonomy in their daily pain management.

Common Conditions Treated

We offer the most current procedures guided by advanced imaging techniques (ultrasound and fluoroscopy) and work to minimize the use of opioids within a patient’s treatment plan. Among the most common causes of chronic pain that we treat are:

  • Neuropathy
  • Headaches
  • Pinched nerves
  • Pelvic pain
  • Shingles pain
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Arthritis and degenerative disc disease
  • Back and neck pain, including sciatica and work-related injuries
  • Persistent pain in the neck or back
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
  • Nerve damage or muscle spasm pain

Creating a trusting and long-lasting partnership with each of our patients is our ultimate goal. We partner with our patients to provide an individualized, comprehensive pain management plan to get them back to the quality of life they deserve.

Our Process

  • Step 1 - Speak with your primary care physician or advanced practice provider about whether a comprehensive pain management consultation is right for you.
  • Step 2 - Ask for a referral to our program and schedule an appointment for an initial evaluation with one of our spine and pain specialists. This evaluation will allow our specialists to determine your potential benefit from the available treatment options.

What to Expect Following Your Procedure

After your procedure, your physician will give you very specific short and long-term instructions about how to manage your pain. In the weeks following your treatment, you will be contacted by a member of our staff to assess your pain level and discuss any concerns you may have. For urgent concerns, please contact our Midland office at (989) 832-4202 or our West Branch office at (989) 343-3730 and ask to speak to a member of our team.
