Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy focuses on preventing and healing injuries and disabilities that affect your capacity to perform normal, daily tasks. Some conditions that may benefit from physical therapy include sports injuries, amputations, joint replacement, back and neck pain, headaches and neurological conditions.

A physical therapist can help you:

  • Improve mobility, balance, range of motion or endurance
  • Reduce pain
  • Prevent injuries by learning to move more safely
  • Return to normal daily activities

We draw upon many treatment methods to help you achieve these goals, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise or techniques such as ultrasound or electrical stimulation.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

MyMichigan's rehabilitation services locations have state-of-the-art exercise and monitoring equipment such as Cybex, BTE (Baltimore Therapeutic Equipment), MedX, elliptical trainers and Nu-Step, to name a few. Many of our locations also have specialized features to meet the needs of specific conditions, such as warm water therapy pools, cardiac monitoring equipment or access to our Easy Street® environment.

Costs, Insurance and Referrals

Physical therapy is generally covered by Medicare, Medicaid or commercial insurance, when ordered by a physician. If you have questions about coverage, your insurance carrier or your employer's benefits department is the best source of information.

Other payment arrangements also can be made. For more information, contact our billing and insurance department.

Ask your doctor about a referral to MyMichigan's physical therapy program.
