The da Vinci XI™ Surgical System by Intuitive Surgical, Inc., works by translating the surgeon’s own hand movements into more precise movements of small surgical instruments at the ends of robotic arms.

The da Vinci XI Surgical System

As the newest da Vinci surgical system, the XI provides even greater precision and patient safety than earlier versions. The surgeon views enhanced 3D, high-definition images of the operating field with greater visual clarity and uses a widescreen touch screen and more dexterous fingertip controls, while seated at an adjustable, ergonomic surgeon console. The system also features continual safety checks.

Expert Qualifications

The experienced MyMichigan physicians and surgical teams who perform robotic procedures have received extensive advanced training on the da Vinci system, including virtual-reality experience on the da Vinci Skills Simulator™. The Medical Center is one of only six providers in Michigan and the only one in the region to offer its physicians simulator training for mastering this advanced robotic system.
