Video Visits
For simple medical appointments that do not require a physical examination, your doctor may offer the option of a video visit to save you time and travel. These are secure, online video chats that enable you to see the provider, ask questions and carry on a dialogue just as you would in the office.
These visits are available by appointment only. Your doctor's office can advise you on whether a video visit is appropriate for your situation and provide you with detailed instructions on how to connect. In order to participate in a video visit, you will need:
- A smart phone or tablet with a working camera and microphone.
- A strong connection to the internet (Wi-Fi, cellular data or broadband internet).
- If you don't have a smart device or high-speed Internet, ask your provider's office whether a Virtual Clinic is available near you. MyMichigan Health has several locations throughout Michigan where you can use our equipment and connection for scheduled video visits. This may still be closer and more convenient for you than traveling to a specialist.
Next time you need an appointment, ask your provider's office if this type of visit is right for you.
