During Foot Health Awareness Month, the Wound Treatment Centers at MyMichigan Health remind you to take action to prevent and detect foot problems that may lead to non-healing wounds.

It is important for high-risk patients to do regular foot checks. Call your doctor if you see anything unusual such as redness, swelling, blisters, toenail problems or cuts. Early detection can prevent serious complications that could lead to amputation or even death.

Check in with those you love, and remind them to celebrate Foot Health Awareness month by doing weekly foot checks. Patients who are already being treated for non-healing wounds should also continue to keep their scheduled appointments to avoid complications that could lead to hospitalization.
