Biography
Irfan Manzoor, M.D., specializes in Family Medicine. He sees patients at MyMichigan Family Medicine in Sanford, Michigan.
Philosophy of Care
“Growing up in Saudi Arabia, I would always visit the hospital with my father who was a Respiratory Therapist,” said Dr. Manzoor. “He had many family medicine colleagues and when they shared their stories with him, I would listen in eagerly. What I found most fascinating about family medicine was the opportunity to see people of all ages and walks of life. I also find it rewarding that we get to grow old with our patients who eventually begin to feel like family, especially when we are taking care of multiple generations within a family.”
“I firmly believe that no one should be on any medications if at all possible. I truly believe that a healthy lifestyle can be achieved with proper diet and exercise. I partner with my patients to help them work on and achieve their goals of a healthy lifestyle without the help of medications. If medications are required, I work with patients to help them come off of them.”
“The relationship I strive to create with my patients is one of open communication and partnership. I like to partner with my patients and involve them in the decision-making processes that affect their health. I like to inform them in an easy to understand way and then explain why I am recommending certain things. At the end of the day, I like my patients to have full autonomy over their decisions regarding their health and wellbeing.”
“The most satisfying aspect of my job is that I get to see patients of all ages throughout my day. I love that one minute I will be taking care of a baby and then the next an elderly patient. I love interacting with the whole family.”
“I understand the healthcare system from both a provider’s and patient’s perspective. When I was 10, I was diagnosed with a parasitic infection of the brain that eventually led to brain surgery. I spent several months in doctors’ offices and in and out of hospitals. Having this understanding and the hardship my family went through gives me a better understanding of how difficult health problems can be not only on the patient but also on the family.”
“My hobbies include working on cars and spending as much time as I can with my children who are currently young. I also enjoy weight training on a regular basis.”
