Biography
Phillip A. Kadaj, M.D., is an internal medicine physician with MyMichigan Medical Group.
While Dr. Kadaj was an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan, his interest in science led him to volunteer in a hospital and research lab. “That’s when I decided that my passion was in taking care of patients,” Dr. Kadaj said.
Dr. Kadaj said that his residency program at William Beaumont Hospital truly completed his education. “In medical school, we learn about medicine. In residency I learned how to be a doctor,” he said. “We could spend the rest of our lives reading about medicine, but only experience with patients can teach us how to become doctors.”
Philosophy of Care
Listening is key to Dr. Kadaj’s philosophy of patient care. “If you listen and give your patients time to talk, they will tell you what you need to know. The important thing is to know what to listen for,” he said.
“My approach is primarily on preventative care. I emphasize diet and exercise. Many diseases can be improved or completely treated with a rigorous diet and exercise program. My goal is to keep people healthy as opposed to treating them for a chronic disease.”
Dr. Kadaj and his wife chose to move with their two young children to Midland because they have family here. “I spent a lot of time in Midland during my residency, and I like the community’s focus on kids and outdoor activities,” he said. “It’s the perfect place to practice, enjoy life, and raise a family.”
