Biography
Omar Ali, M.D., is an interventional cardiologist with specialized training in structural heart disease. He is a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team at MyMichigan Health. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, heart failure and structural heart specialists, as well as vascular and cardiovascular surgeons.
Dr. Ali brings over 17 years of cardiology experience to his patients, offering expertise in complex coronary and structural interventions. As an interventional cardiologist, he works with patients who have cardiac-related conditions such as coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, peripheral vascular disease, valvular and structural heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, congenital heart defects and other complex cardiac conditions.
Prior to coming to MyMichigan, Dr. Ali served as co-director of the Structural Heart Program at Winchester Cardiology and Vascular Medicine in Virginia and director of the Structural Heart Program at Wesley Medical Center in Kansas.

According to Dr. Ali, he truly enjoys his work, and believes in creating and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for his patients. “I work hard to develop strong relationships with my patients and their family members,” he said. “I want them to feel comfortable asking questions so that they feel informed throughout the course of their treatment.”
Special Interests and Procedures
Dr. Ali has extensive experience in the treatment of structural heart disease using a variety of minimally invasive procedures including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), Watchman left atrial appendage closure implant, and transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR). Other procedures he specializes in includes radial approach cardiac catheterizations, paravalvular leak closures, ASD/PFOs and atrial appendage.
Over the course of his career, he has been involved in a variety of research projects and has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles.
