Biography

Kent R. Biddinger, M.D., is one of the few fellowship-trained foot and ankle orthopedic surgeons in Michigan. “Treatment of the foot and ankle has always intrigued me,” he said. “After completing my orthopedic residency at West Virginia University, I was fortunate to be accepted by the Foot and Ankle Institute of Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Md., where I was able to study with the pioneers of this specialty.”

Dr. Biddinger is a general orthopedic surgeon who treats upper and lower extremity injuries and fractures. His special interests are in the foot and ankle This includes shoes, orthotics, calluses, corns, hammertoes, Morton’s neuroma, tarsal tunnel, bunions, arthritis, heel pain, tendonitis, sprains, fallen arches, sports injuries, trauma and reconstruction of the foot and ankle.

Philosophy of Care

In working with patients, Dr. Biddinger’s goal is to deliver effective, safe and compassionate care.

“Foot and ankle pain can severely limit daily activity and diminish quality of life, and I understand how getting to the root of the pain can sometimes be stressful for patients,” said Dr. Biddinger. “To determine the best approach for each patient, I focus on the foot and ankle in a comprehensive manner, taking into account a physical examination, the patient’s medical history and appropriate studies. All of these steps contribute to a correct diagnosis, which is the basis to decide the best options for care.”

Special Interests and Procedures

Dr. Biddinger’s special interests include complex surgical reconstruction and repair of foot and ankle disorders. Specific procedures that Dr. Biddinger specializes in include ankle ligament reconstruction, ankle arthroscopy, Achilles tendon repair, ankle joint replacements, and calcaneus, talus and Lisfranc fractures.

He published an article entitled “The Role of Surgical Decompression for Diabetic Neuropathy” in the June 2004 issue of Foot and Ankle Clinics, an internationally-distributed medical journal.
