Biography
Andrzej S. Boguszewski, M.D., is an interventional cardiologist with MyMichigan Health and is a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team at MyMichigan Health. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists, as well as vascular, thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons.
Dr. Boguszewski was drawn to the specialty of cardiology during his internal medicine residency. “While working with one of my mentors, I realized that almost every patient I saw had some type of cardiac history or issue,” he said. “This raised my awareness to the overall scope of the problem and led me to my interest in general cardiology. From there, I realized the overall magnitude of coronary disease and had a strong desire to be able to impact treatment of the disease through interventional means.”
In addition to congestive heart failure and coronary disease, Dr. Boguszewski holds a special interest in peripheral arterial disease (PAD) which he says is too often under recognized, under-treated and overlooked. He believes that early identification of patients who have PAD is crucial to the prevention of heart-related issues.
Philosophy of Care
“My goal is to share what I know in simplistic ways to help my patients understand what is going on with their heart,” Dr. Boguszewski said. “I believe in treating my patients as if they’re members of my family, getting to know them and working with them to get to the root of their problem. I believe in making decisions collaboratively with my patients by weighing the benefits and risks of each potential course of treatment.”
Special Interests and Procedures
Dr. Boguszewski’s advanced training enables him to offer both general cardiology and interventional services. Cardiology tests and procedures he provides include stress testing, transesophageal echocardiography and diagnostic cardiac catheterization via transradial access. He also performs a wide variety of interventional procedures, including angioplasty and stent implantation, laser and rotational athrectomy, thrombectomy, intraaortic balloon pump insertion and management, peripheral interventions and DVT catheter-based thrombolytic therapy.
Dr. Boguszewski holds special interests in advancements in interventional cardiology such as the use of percutaneous ventricular assist devices, minimally invasive percutaneous aortic valve replacement and renal denervation.
Dr. Boguszewski and his wife, Rachel, live in Midland with their four boys. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his boys. His hobbies include working on high-performance and classic cars and mixed martial arts.
