Biography

David Buzanoski, M.D., specializes in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He sees patients of all ages at the Family Medicine office in Campus Ridge Building in Midland, Michigan.

Philosophy of Care

“As a primary care physician caring for both children and adults, I have the opportunity to serve an entire family as they grow and age,” said Dr. Buzanoski. “The opportunity to build these interpersonal connections first drew me to a career in medicine and continues to motivate me on a daily basis.”

“I firmly believe that when patients understand their health and medical conditions, their outcomes and quality of life tend to improve. That’s why I take time to listen to my patients, answer their questions at each visit and provide education in an understandable and accessible way.”

Dr. Buzanoski has a special interest in adolescent medicine - in particular, caring for children and young adults with chronic medical conditions and acknowledging the unique aspects of their care that result from living with chronic conditions.

“I focus on evidence-based practices while also taking into account my patients’ individuality and personal goals. I pride myself on knowing the evidence behind my clinical decisions, but I also understand that medicine is not ‘one size fits all.’ It is important to adapt evidence and clinical guidelines to fit each patient’s unique circumstances. I always try to meet my patients where they are at – physically, emotionally, and socially. I am also not too proud to admit when I don’t know something, or when I need to look into something more before offering advice.”

“When I first entered the profession, I saw the act of ‘healing’ as the most satisfying part of becoming a physician. Indeed, meeting a person during a time of illness or crisis and using my medical training to return them to health is incredibly rewarding. However, I have come to realize that caring for acute medical conditions only scratches the surface of patient care. What gives me the most satisfaction is seeing the effect my care has on patients and their families over their life journeys. I have come to truly value experiences such as watching a child grow from infancy into the school years, counseling adolescents as they transition into adulthood, and assisting an aging individual in safely maintaining their independence.”

Dr. Buzanoski is originally from a small town in rural central Maine. He grew up on an apple orchard, which his family still owns and operates. “Although my knowledge about apple farming is quickly becoming out of date, I still thoroughly enjoy discussing all things apple-related.”

He remains a diehard and unapologetic New England sports fan. “I follow both the Red Sox and Celtics closely, and if I’m watching football I’ll be rooting for the Patriots. Aside from sports, my family and I enjoy outdoor recreation in its many forms – hiking, camping, and kayaking are among our favorite family pastimes.”

Dr. Buzanoski is married to colorectal surgeon Kristin Busch, M.D. and they have a toddler son, Benjamin. The family anticipates staying in Midland for many years to come, and Dr. Buzanoski looks forward to growing with each of the families that he has the privilege of caring for.
