Biography
Samuel Dudley, M.D., is an otolaryngologist who sees patients of all ages at his office in Midland.
Dr. Dudley first became interested in the ear, nose and throat after seeing a local doctor in college, when he suffered an injury that caused his eardrum to rupture. “Working with him and other great mentors, I fell in love with the intricate head and neck anatomy,” he said. “I love the opportunity to treat patients of all ages and to address a large variety of conditions ranging from quality of life to life-threatening issues.”
During residency, Dr. Dudley trained at a high-volume academic center as well as two large children’s hospitals, including St. Jude Children’s Hospital, which has provided him a strong foundation in treating pediatric patients.
Philosophy of Care
“I believe in treating the patient and not the disease,” said Dr. Dudley. “Each patient comes with his or her own unique disease presentation and life experiences that have led them to me. My job is to work with each patient and family to make decisions as a team, tailored to their goals and priorities.”
“I love to connect with patients and see improvements to their quality of life with the treatment I’ve provided,” Dr. Dudley said. “I plan to treat my patients as if they were a family member or a friend.”
Special Interests and Procedures
Dr. Dudley has a special interest in sialoendoscopy, which is a minimally-invasive procedure used to treat salivary disorders while preserving a patient’s natural anatomy and avoiding gland excision when appropriate. He learned from a leading expert in salivary gland disorders with a unique experience in sialoendoscopy.
Dr. Dudley is also interested in alternative surgical management for patients with obstructive sleep apnea who do not tolerate the CPAP, including the hypoglossal nerve stimulator (Inspire) and hyomandibular suspension procedures (Airlift).
In his free time, Dr. Dudley enjoys running, mountain biking, playing tennis and volleyball and playing the piano. He has two young children, and he and his family are excited to be a part of the close-knit Midland community.
