Biography
Lacey Felten, A.C.N.P.C.-A.G., A.G.A.C.N.P.-B.C., M.S.N., is a certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner who specializes in electrophysiology. She works with Electrophysiologists Opesanmi Esan, M.D., and William Michael Mellana Jr., M.D. This team uses specialized equipment to diagnose, and develop treatment plans for, patients with heart rhythm problems. According to Lacey, she has always been interested in the heart’s electrical conduction system. “I have seen the impact illness can have on the heart’s electrical system firsthand and enjoy being part of a team dedicated to diagnosing and correcting heart rhythm disorders,” she said.
Philosophy of Care
“My personal philosophy of care is to treat every patient with the same time, dedication and compassion that I would invest in those closest to me,” she added. “The kind of relationship that I strive to create with my patients is a therapeutic relationship built on trust and respect, as well as a mutual agreement of our treatment goals and objectives. The most satisfying aspect of my work is seeing the direct impact my care can have on improving the health of our community. I especially like caring for my patients in the inpatient setting and continuing to follow and watch them progress through their ongoing care in the office. It’s very important to me to be knowledgeable, friendly, and to quickly respond to my patient’s needs. That’s why I take extra time with each patient and I’m committed to our common goal of finding the right solution for successful treatment and ultimately patient wellness.”
Special Interests and Procedures
Lacey holds special interests in the WatchmanTM Left Atrial Appendage Closure Implant procedure and Micra™ leadless pacemaker implantation. “I think both of these procedures are very interesting and have made a great impact in this field,” she said. “I also have a particular interest in the utilization of anticoagulation treatment, as well as antiarrhythmic medication treatment.” In her free-time, Lacey loves to fish, hike, camp and kayak. She also enjoys tropical vacations. Her favorite pastime above all is spending quality time with her family and friends.
