Biography
Brette Fryfogle, F.N.P.-B.C., M.S.N., is a certified nurse practitioner who specializes in electrophysiology. She works with Clinical Electrophysiologists Opesanmi Esan, M.D., Nilofar Islam, M.D., and William Michael Mellana Jr., M.D. As electrophysiologists, the team uses specialized equipment to diagnose, and develop treatment plans for, patients with heart rhythm problems.
Brette’s nursing career has been spent in the cardiovascular field, from stress tests to cardiovascular surgery. “I have worked with amazing providers who have mentored me along the way and given me a strong foundation,” she said. “This allows me to help my patients understand what to expect from their care plan from start to finish. As a nurse practitioner I hope to provide a positive and supportive experience during a challenging time in my patients’ lives.”
According to Brette, electrophysiology is a complex function of the heart and every patient has a unique treatment plan. “Providing support through what can be a scary and complicated time is what attracted me to this specialty,” she said.
Philosophy of Care
Brette believes in empowering her patients and their families to be advocates in their health care plans. “I want to create a relationship where patients are comfortable sharing their concerns, and confident they are listened to and well taken care of,” she added. “The most satisfying aspect of my work is being able to provide education to my patients so that they can better understand their disease and more effectively manage it.
Special Interests and Procedures
Brette holds special interests in the Watchman™ Left Atrial Appendage Closure Implant procedure and Micra™ leadless pacemaker implantation. “We are very fortunate to have these advancements for treating arrhythmia as well as effective treatment options for anticoagulation, including Eliquis® and Xarelto®.
In her free-time, Brette enjoys spending time with her husband Patrick and her family, as well as reading, hiking and just spending time enjoying the great outdoors.
