Biography
Katelyn Young, P.A.-C. specializes in internal medicine, caring for patients ages 18 and older. She sees patients at MyMichigan Medical Center Mt. Pleasant.
Philosophy of Care
Building trust and encouraging two-way communication are two important ways that Katelyn tries to build good relationships with her patients.
“I believe that I take more time with patients and that I am a good listener. I try not to rush the visit and make sure I answer all their questions to the best of my ability. “
Katelyn enjoys helping to educate her patients so that they can take steps to better their health.
“I like to take time with patients to help them understand their health and what is going on so that we can come up with a health plan that works for both of us. I want them to feel comfortable speaking to me about their health concerns. Seeing their reactions when they see how their changes impact their health is very rewarding.”
Katelyn was drawn to internal medicine because it rather than focusing on one system of the body, she is able to help patients with whatever their concerns might be. Internal medicine providers often see patients with more complex health histories or chronic conditions, and helping them to manage their conditions and live well is a common goal.
“I think it is exciting that we have so many different treatment options for diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes so that you can tailor treatments to the individual patient. If one medication doesn’t work there are other options that you can try.”
Katelyn has a large family that she enjoys spending time with. “I love summer and going boating on Michigan lakes. I recently got a Great Dane puppy and it has been a lot of fun raising her.”
