Biography
David Hartfiel, M.D., specializes in obstetrics and gynecology. He sees patients at MyMichigan Obstetrics & Gynecology, on the campus of MyMichigan Medical Center West Branch.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Hartfiel chose medicine due to a love of science and brings a wealth of experience in both obstetrics/gynecology and rural medicine, having previously practiced in Coldwater, Michigan, Iron Mountain, Michigan and North and South Dakota before joining MyMichigan Health. He chose West Branch because he was looking for a practice and a community that value collaboration, where everyone works together.
“I want to practice in a place where people want to partner with me for their health care needs,” he said. “I like to focus on smaller hospitals and communities in need as it reminds me where I came from and how I grew up. I’m excited to bring new procedures and services to the community.”
He said the most satisfying aspect of his work is being able to influence outcomes and then see the results. “I am able to take care of people throughout their pregnancy and see a happy and healthy baby at the end.”
Dr. Hartfiel has lived and vacationed in the area for more than 30 years and has family close by. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids and pursuing outdoor activities such as fishing, canoeing and boating. He is currently restoring a 1953 MG TD.
