Biography
Matt Kenny, P.A.-C., specializes in treating conditions that affect the nerves, tendons and bones of the hand. He sees patients in the office of Curtis Young, M.D., M.S., who specializes in hand surgery.
Matt has always had a passion for orthopedics. “I find the field of hand surgery to be particularly interesting as our hands are such a vital part of who we are as people and how we interact with the world around us,” he said. “Being able to help people get through problems or injuries so they can get back to their jobs and hobbies is a very satisfying undertaking.”
According to Matt, the most satisfying aspect of his work is simply helping patients, whether it be by performing a procedure or simply listening. “As long as they feel satisfied when they leave my office, so do I,” he said.
Matt feels the ability to do more hand procedures with minimal sedation or anesthesia has been a great benefit for patients, getting them on the road to recovery and back to their lives more quickly.
Philosophy of Care
“My philosophy of care centers on seeing my patients as people and not just as a condition, injury or problem that they have,” said Matt. “A patient’s job, living situation, hobbies, etc., all play into how their particular problem will affect them. I believe it’s important to get to know my patients and understand who they are as a whole and that allows me to better address their needs.”
In addition, it’s important to Matt that patients feel listened to and cared about when they leave his office. “I think it’s important for patients to feel comfortable and at ease while they are dealing with their injury or condition so that we can better address their needs and solve the problems they may be having,” he added. “The only way to do that is to trust each other and get to understand where each person is coming from.”
Matt is respectful of patients’ time as well as their needs, and feels that he is able to strike a balance by providing them quality care in a timely manner.
In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, DeeAnna, and their two sons, as well as golfing, hunting and traveling. Matt and his family live in Midland, and he and DeeAnna enjoy providing care for the community in which they live.
