In addition to offering convenient patient appointments at the Center for Women’s Health, this team performs breast reconstructive surgery at the Medical Center.
Dr. Momoh currently serves as a clinical associate professor of surgery in the Section of Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan.
“I think plastic surgery is a very unique, broad-based surgical field,” he said. “Our work spans the entire body from the head to the toe and ranges from all sorts of procedures which could be reconstructive or aesthetic. I also like the fact that I have to think on my feet, and at times, be very creative with some of the solutions.”
According to Dr. Momoh, there are a lot of new things that are going on in the field of plastic surgery today. “We’re on the cutting edge and trying to push the envelope with regards to new things that can be done surgically for patients,” he said. “These include advanced microsurgical techniques. For instance, in breast reconstruction we’re using autologous fat grafting which involves using the patient’s own tissues or fat to restore a more normal appearance to the breast.”
Philosophy of Care
“I really enjoy working with my patients and spending time listening so that I can understand what they’re going through on a personal level,” he said. “My goal is to put my patients at ease and help them reach a comfort level with their upcoming procedure. This not only involves helping them understand what we’re going to be doing, but also walking them through the whole process leading up to surgery and then preparing them for the recovery process after surgery. Being able to help my patients improve their quality of life provides me with a lot of satisfaction and I feel very privileged.”
