Biography
Gabrielle Newton, M.S.B.S., P.A.-C. specializes in family medicine. She sees patients at Family Practice Center Midland.
Philosophy of Care
Newton received her Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University before moving to Ohio for physician assistant training. During her student clinical rotations, she spent time assisting with patients in many areas including behavioral health, emergency medicine, family medicine, infectious disease, women’s health, internal medicine, surgery and pediatrics. She selected family medicine as her specialty because it gives her the ability to develop long-term and trusting relationships while emphasizing preventative medicine.
“Helping others in their journey to reach the best versions of themselves is very satisfying,” says Newton. “Whether victories along the way are big or small, it’s not when but how we reach our goals that makes the biggest difference.”
Newton works to build trusting and open relationships with her patients wherein they feel safe to share everything that makes them who they are. “Our experiences, values, preferences, etc., are all integral aspects of our health and wellbeing,” she said. “I believe every patient is in the driver’s seat of their own health while I am the passenger guiding and providing tools along the way to help them become the healthiest and best version of themselves.”
The current focus on preventative care in all disciplines of health care and the patient-centered care model are aspects of medicine Newton is passionate about. “The world of medicine continues to evolve, and we learn more about the human body every day,” she says. “Having the opportunity to share information that helps and empowers others to improve their health is a major component of what drew me to medicine.”
When not at work, Newton enjoys reading thrillers and dramas, going to concerts and comedy shows and cooking all types of foods. She also likes spending time with family and friends at her cottage in Pelee Island on Lake Erie.
