Biography

Robin O’Dell, D.O., is an osteopathic physician, board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She sees patients at MyMichigan Gynecology in Midland.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. O’Dell grew up in the thumb area of Michigan where her family owned a local newspaper. After teaching abroad in Japan for a year, Dr. O’Dell received her medical degree from the University of New England in Maine. She returned to Michigan for post-graduate training at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland and began practicing at the Women’s Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant following residency.

Dr. O’Dell enjoys the personal interactions with her patients and is drawn to the immediate benefits that gynecologic procedures provide. “I enjoy the unique balance of office and surgical procedures in gynecology,” she said.

She believes health is a triune of mind, body and spirt and will work toward nurturing and balance these aspects with her patients. “It is important that my patients feel comfortable and at ease to discuss whatever is on their mind,” said Dr. O’Dell. “I try to talk to them on the same level without using a lot of confusing jargon. I really want my patients to feel heard.”

While helping people is the most rewarding aspect of her role, she also feels that she gets more from her patients than they do from her. “The relationships I form with my patients are very rewarding and make going to work a genuine pleasure.”

Dr. O’Dell is excited to see the on-going development of minimally invasive surgeries that are benefiting both patient and healthcare providers. It is also important to Dr. O’Dell that issues are addressed medically rather that surgically without compromise in effectiveness.

When not working, Dr. O’Dell enjoys running, writing poetry and spending time with her son, two daughters and mother who lives in Midland. “While I’m not a spring chicken, I recently discovered running and have been empowered by participating regularly in races,” added Dr. O’Dell. “It’s never too late to push your comfort zone mentally or physically. You can do anything you set your mind to – go for it!”
