Biography
Ferdnand Osuagwu, M.D., is a psychiatrist specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry.
Dr. Osuagwu was attracted to the field of psychiatry because he loves listening to people and the stories of their life. “My job affords me the opportunity to watch my patients grow as I continue to care for them,” he said.
Philosophy of Care
To Dr. Osuagwu, the most satisfying part of his job is helping to change the trajectory of children when they struggle, and seeing them thrive.
“I am a firm believer of using the bio-psycho-social model, and I typically seek out the psychosocial stressors and organic abnormalities that may be creating the current problem that my patient is struggling with,” said Dr. Osuagwu. “Things like family dynamics and interpersonal relationships may need to be addressed with interventions like psychotherapy in order to get the best results. Medication is an important tool, but should be used prudently after addressing the issues that are creating psychosocial stressors.”
Dr. Osuagwu strives to act as an advocate for all of his patients. “I have my patients’ best interests at heart all the time,” he said.
