Biography
Alexander Power, M.D., specializes in family medicine. He sees patients at MyMichigan Family & Internal Medicine & Pediatrics at MyMichigan Medical Center Mt. Pleasant.
Philosophy of Care
“I was drawn to family medicine by the ability to care for the whole person at all stages of life,” said Dr. Power. “My focus is preventive care; not just dealing with illness when it comes about, but working towards mental and physical wellbeing continuously.”
“I like to create a patient-physician relationship that is both casual and professional to make the medical environment as comfortable as possible. I try to ensure a friendly, attentive encounter, free from any judgement, with the goal of solving problems and improving health.”
“The most satisfying part of being a physician is using my skills and knowledge to help a patient restore or improve their health.”
Over the last few decades, Dr. Power has seen many advancements in mental health including pharmacology, therapy, and overall reduction in societal stigma that have led to more people prioritizing their mental health just as they do their physical health.
Dr. Power and his wife, Olivia, have a dog named Josie. In his free time he enjoys visiting the mountains, collecting puzzles and both playing and listening to all kinds of music. He plays multiple instruments including piano, trumpet and guitar and composes and records music on his own and with other musicians.
