Biography

Jessica Quigley, M.S.N., N.P.-C., is a certified nurse practitioner with MyMichigan Health and is a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, heart failure and structural heart specialists, as well as vascular and cardiovascular surgeons.

Jessica initially chose a career in medicine at age 14 while recovering from back surgery. “My first goal was to be a pharmacist,” she said. “My hospital stay changed my view. The nurses who took care of me were outstanding; I had a wonderful experience after a very scary surgery. I decided then that I would become a nurse.”

After earning her degree, Jessica worked in critical care and cardiology while also teaching mental health classes to the undergraduate program nursing students while earning her nurse practitioner certification. “From the beginning I knew I wanted to work as a nurse practitioner,” she said. “I enjoy the added challenge and I’m happy to provide care to people in my home town.”

Philosophy of Care

Whether helping a patient deal with a chronic condition, or helping a patient achieve and maintain optimum health, Jessica’s goal is to provide excellent quality of care to the people who reside within her community. “I encourage my patients to be open-minded and to have the desire to live a healthier lifestyle,” Jessica said. “Not everything is black and white in health care. Things are changing; treatments may not be the same as in the past. It’s always good to keep an open mind and be willing to try different avenues. I will help them find the right treatment and give them the best overall health care.”

Friendly and outgoing, Jessica treats her patients as she would treat her own family. “I’m always open and honest with patients, and that helps them be open and honest with me,” she said. “I take the time to answer all my patients’ questions, and ensure that everyone is on the same page of understanding when they leave my office.” Jessica said while she can give patients the advice and the tools they need to help themselves, they need to play an active role in their health. “When someone makes one positive change, they affect their health in many different ways,” she said. “Simple changes to diet will affect weight, blood pressure, cholesterol levels and more. One good thing leads to many good benefits.”

Special Interests and Procedures

Jessica, and her colleagues, work with patients who have a variety of cardiac-related conditions such as coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, peripheral vascular disease, valvular and structural heart disease, congenital heart defects, heart failure, and other complex cardiac conditions.

She and her husband, Andrew, are both from the West Branch area and are delighted to be able to raise their own two children in the community they treasure. As a family, they enjoy camping and boating. Jessica and Andrew are both avid golfers and have enjoyed restoring their Victorian home – one of the first houses built in West Branch – to its former glory.
