Biography

Susan M. Sallach, M.D., F.A.C.C., is a cardiologist with MyMichigan Health and is a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team at MyMichigan Health. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, as well as vascular, thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons.

She brings over ten years of cardiology experience to her patients, offering expertise in advanced cardiac testing and disease management. As a cardiologist, Dr. Sallach works with patients who have a variety of cardiac-related conditions such as coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, heart failure, structural and valvular heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and other complex cardiac conditions. Additionally, she holds special interests in valvular and adult congenital heart disease, and in the symptoms and risks of heart-related problems unique to women in all stages of their lives.

“I chose the specialty of cardiology because I feel it is an area of medicine where I can have the biggest impact on patient care,” said Dr. Sallach. “While heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women, it is both preventable and controllable. It is also an area of medicine in which the methods of treatment are very evidence based.”

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Sallach believes in educating her patients to make sure that they understand the “why” behind her decisions to recommend particular tests, medications or procedures. “My goal is to make sure that my patients are not only educated on their condition but are also involved in the decision-making process,” she said. “We are a team and based on the available information, my job is to help my patients understand their heart condition, make recommendations regarding treatment options and then work collaboratively with them to decide the course of treatment that is best for them.”

Special Interests and Procedures

Dr. Sallach performs a variety of non-invasive diagnostic cardiac tests including coronary CTA, cardiac MRI, cardioversions, exercise stress tests, echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), electrocardiograms (ECG), Holter monitors, event monitors, calcium scoring and nuclear stress tests.
