Biography
Patrick Schafer, M.D., specializes in family medicine. He sees patients of all ages at MyMichigan Health Park West Branch.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Schafer was drawn to family medicine for the opportunity to help guide patients in all their healthcare needs throughout their lifespan.
“I enjoy caring for people of all ages, including entire extended families,” he said. “Quality preventive primary care is an important part of a long, healthy life.”
“I encourage proactive, lifelong multidisciplinary preventive care. Identifying and managing diseases early reduces long term health consequences and improves your quality of life.”
“I work to create an open and honest dialogue with all my patients about their physical and mental health. The most satisfying aspect of my work is working with our multidisciplinary team to ensure our patients get the care they need for any medical or mental health problem they may have.”
“I am excited that we are able to care for your entire family right here in West Branch. In addition to preventive medical care, I enjoy urgent and acute care medicine and hope to be available for your non-emergency acute needs including sprains, strains, broken bones, cuts, scrapes and infectious illness management.”
“Some of the most exciting developments during my short career have been in the field of infectious disease, including the advanced treatments and potential cure for Hepatitis C and vaccine development for HPV and Meningitis B.”
During his free time, Dr. Schafer stays both healthy and busy by enjoying his family and pastimes.
“I play hockey. I enjoy keeping tropical fish and raising my children with my wife.”
