Biography
Femi Showole, D.O., is an invasive cardiologist and advanced cardiac imaging specialist with MyMichigan Health and is a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, vascular and cardiothoracic surgeons, as well as cardiovascular trained nurses.
As a cardiologist, Dr. Showole works with patients who have a variety of cardiac-related conditions such as coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, peripheral vascular disease, valvular and structural heart disease, congenital heart defects and other complex cardiac conditions.
According to Dr. Showole, a person’s cardiovascular health is vital to their overall health. “I love that being a cardiologist allows me the ability to make an immediate impact on someone’s overall well-being,” he said. “It also gives me the opportunity to work with patients over a period of time to improve and reduce their cardiovascular risk factors. Very few specialties in medicine enable that to occur.”
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Showole abides by the adage of providing his patients with the same care that he would want his family to receive. “I want my patients to consider us as co-captains of a team focused on improving their overall health,” he said. “The most satisfying aspect of my work is talking to patients who were once unable to walk up a flight of stairs, who are now enjoying more active lives because of the care they’ve received.”
“I take time to listen to my patients to understand their holistic needs,” he added. “I seek a teamwork approach to patient care and love to educate my patients to empower them to improve their overall health.”
