“Breast reconstruction surgery is a deeply personal and emotional journey for breast cancer survivors. In our consults, I will show respect and empathy toward each patient, acknowledging the physical and emotional challenges they have faced,” said Dr. Zwyghuizen. “My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment so that we can help patients reach their reconstruction goals.”
Philosophy of Care
According to Dr. Zwyghuizen, the most important aspect of a good consult is providing patients with good information so they can make informed decisions. “There are many options available for breast reconstruction. To make a good decision, patients need to fully understand the risks and benefits of each technique,” adds Dr. Zwyghuizen.
“I think it’s very important to involve the patient in the decision making process and ensure they have a voice in their own care,” adds Dr. Zwyghuizen. “Together we will discuss in detail all their reconstruction options and develop a tailored treatment plan that aligns with their needs.”
In his spare time, Dr. Zqyghuizen enjoys playing the guitar and piano, playing volleyball, wake-boarding and photography.
