Tolfree Scholarship

The Tolfree Scholarship Fund was created by the MyMichigan Health Foundation Board of Directors to further health care education in its service area to provide quality healthcare professionals for its citizens. Donor designated funds are disbursed annually from this scholarship.

A tuition award up to $500 will be granted of a resident in the MyMichigan Medical Center West Branch service area, and paid directly to the recipient’s educational institution upon notification of acceptance into an accredited educational institution.

Who Should Apply?

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be a primary resident of Alger, Au Gres, Gladwin, Hale, Houghton Lake, Mio, Prescott, Roscommon, Rose City, St. Helen, Tawas, West Branch, Whittemore
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be accepted to an accredited educational institution in a health care field of study. Proof of enrollment required.

Application Process

Electronic applications for the upcoming school year will be accepted beginning January 1st of each year with the deadline of May 1st. Applications and support documentation will only be accepted electronically. To apply, complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the online Tolfree Fund Scholarship Application. No longer accepting applications, please check back after January 1, 2025. 
  2. You will receive email confirmation that application has been received.
  3. Submit required documentation to scholarship-tolfree@mymichigan.org
    • Subject Line - First & Last Name - Tolfree Scholarship Application
    • Please submit the following as attachments to the email:
      • One (1) recommendation letter from a teacher or professor
      • A current transcript (official or unofficial)
      • One (1) letter of recommendation from individuals other than your teacher/professor who will address your strengths, skills and any other information that should be taken into consideration
      • Include enrollment/acceptance letter into an accredited educational institution
