About

A department of MyMichigan Medical Center Alma

Family Practice Center Alma

Family Practice Center in Alma, Michigan is your home for all your basic medical care. We see patients of all ages, from babies to seniors, providing wellness, disease prevention, maternity care, in-office procedures and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. We are one of the few primary care practices in the area to see our own patients when they are admitted to the hospital. We also accept most insurance plans.

Our office provides a three-year residency program to physicians who wish to advance their careers in Family Medicine. Many of you will have the opportunity to see them for appointments. In doing so, you will be helping to shape the future of medical care in our community.

The Family Practice Center uses a team approach for patient care. This means that you will not always see your preferred provider for every appointment. However, be assured that there will be collaboration and communication among the colleagues. This team approach also enables us to see you very quickly when you are sick or have an urgent need.

We are a unique practice with two types of doctors, so you'll benefit from two expert perspectives in every appointment:

  • Resident Physicians - Doctors who are recent medical school graduates with the most up-to-date training and have chosen to advance their careers through three more years of hands-on experience in family medicine.
  • Faculty Physicians - Doctors with years of experience in training other physicians, who are assistant or associate professors at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine.

Our standard of care is to use the MyMidMichigan portal to provide you secure online access to your health information and to communicate with you electronically. We encourage you to sign up if you have not already. Please ask our staff for additional information or visit my.midmichigan.midmichigan.net.

Cancellations & No-Shows

If you need to cancel your appointment, please call our office at least 20 hours in advance so that other patients have an opportunity to take that appointment. If you miss your appointment without contacting our office to cancel or reschedule, the appointment will be considered a “no-show.” We will try to call you to reschedule. After three no-shows in 12 months, your provider may dismiss you from our practice. More information about our no-show policy is available upon request.

Prescription Refills

Please contact your pharmacy first for prescription refill requests and allow 48-72 hours for processing. We recommend requesting refills before you are due to ensure that your medication will be ready for you.

Test Results

Normal test results will be submitted to your MyMidMichigan portal account or mailed to your home. If you do not get your test results within 7-10 days, please contact our office. If your test was ordered by a specialist, please follow up with their office for results.
