Healing Arts and Gardens
In Touch with Nature and the Arts
MyMichigan Health believes in treating the whole person. We recognize the connection between mind, body and spirit, and many of our programs take an integrative medicine approach that attends to more than just physical symptoms. Our collections, galleries, gardens and wellness trails complement those programs through nature and the arts.
Patients, visitors and staff frequently need time to step back and reflect. We provide spaces such as chapels and gardens for them to be alone with their thoughts.
Our Artwork Collections
Throughout our facilities, we strive to feature the work of local area artists for the enjoyment of patients, visitors and the public. For example, our medical center in Mt. Pleasant has a cooperative venture with Art Reach of Mid Michigan, which selects local artwork for display in our patient care and waiting areas. To inquire about exhibiting artwork in our facilities, please call Art Reach of Mid Michigan at (989) 773-3689. The fragrance of fresh blooms...the trickle of falling water...the Reflection Garden at MyMichigan Medical Offices Midland is a soothing oasis where patients, visitors and staff can rest and recharge. The garden holds more than 20 varieties of plants and flowers, and paths are wide enough for wheelchairs. This courtyard may also be enjoyed from inside, especially by outpatients receiving chemotherapy.
All MyMichigan radiation oncology centers offer visual and music therapy to help patients relax during treatments. Patients often comment on the soothing nature of beautiful gardens, indoor murals or the rhythmic motions of tropical fish.
