MyMichigan Health has always been committed to diversity and inclusion in our workforce. MyMichigan Health's Efforts to Reduce Health Disparities
Behavioral Health
MyMichigan Health’s behavioral health team has developed an ambulatory care crisis protocol for patients with suicidal thoughts whether they are in person or on the phone to ensure they are able to speak with a behavioral health therapist in a timely fashion, and connect them to the Behavioral Health Telehub for continued care. Additionally, a variety of suicide awareness and prevention trainings have been made available to employees for free to ensure that our care givers have the appropriate tools to care for any patient with behavioral health concerns.
Race and Ethnicity
MyMichigan Health collects information on patients’ race and ethnicity in order to identify disparities in care to see if they exist in the organization. Identifying and measuring disparities helps organizations initiate programs to improve quality of care.
Primary Language
Patients with limited English proficiency or who are deaf or hard of hearing need to be able to communicate with their health care team to ensure that the quality of care they receive is not compromised.
MyMichigan Health always provides medically qualified language interpreters without charge to the patient. Translation of all documents are included in the interpreter services provided.
Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity
MyMichigan Health’s electronic health record has been updated to include a place for your chosen name, sexual orientation and gender identity. Patients are asked for this information to better understand your clinical care needs so that our care team and can deliver high-quality care that all patients expect and deserve.
