Patient and Family Advisory Councils

Creating Healthy Communities - TogetherPhoto of group with hands in the middle forming a circle

Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) bring together patients, family members, health care professionals and staff to advise on MyMichigan Health’s policies, procedures and practices to improve the overall patient and family experience and identify opportunities for improvement.

Membership

We value and strive for diversity in our PFAC membership and are seeking members who can provide their perspectives, opinions and experiences in health care. PFAC members will be asked to:

  • Voice opinions
  • Come to meetings with an open mind and positive approach
  • Partner with those who have differing backgrounds and experiences from their own
  • Represent the voices of patients and their families to support MyMichigan Health's mission to provide excellent care and service in the communities that we serve

Application Process

Prospective PFAC members should complete an application to express their interest. In certain cases, patients or family members may be approached directly to determine interest in serving on as a PFAC member. MyMichigan Health will review all applications and provide all applicants with a written determination within 14 days. Selected applicants will be asked to serve on a PFAC for a minimum of one year and should expect to attend council meetings four to six times per year.
